Ya salió la longlist del Premio Internacional Minotauro de Literatura Fantástica y de Ciencia Ficción que premia a la mejor obra del género en castellano. La lista de latinoamericanos candidatos es extensa.

Dice la nota: "Un total de 68 escritores latinoamericanos concurren al Premio Internacional Minotauro de Literatura Fantástica y de Ciencia Ficción, que se fallará el próximo 7 de febrero, y que en su quinta edición se consolida como uno de los más prestigiosos a nivel internacional en su género. Argentina, con 36 ejemplares presentados, y México, con 21, son los dos países de América Latina con mayor representación en la convocatoria, que se cerró el pasado 5 de noviembre. Cinco finalistas, entre los que se encuentra el uruguayo Federico Fernández Giordano con su obra "El libro de Nobac" , optan a este Premio, que está dotado con 18.00 euros (26.470 dólares) . Además figuran las obras "Ángeles de Titanio" , de Klaus Gordonkraff (seudónimo) ; "Aquamarine" , de Vera Parkhutik; "Rey sátiro" , de Antonio Domínguez Leiva y "Switch in the Red" , escrita bajo el seudónimo Anónima de las 9:59. El jurado está compuesto por los escritores Fernando Delgado, Ángela Valley, Pere Matesanz, Olga Rubio, Juan Eslava Galán, Laura Falcó, y Clara Tahoces, ganadora de la última edición del Premio.

El National Book Award se falla la primera quincena de noviembre, y ya apareció la short-list en la que destaca, claramente, en la categoría de Ficción, la novela de Denis Johnson Tree of smoke. Aquí la lista:

Uno de los premios más prestigiosos y antiguos de Gran Bretaña, que se entrega en la Universidad de Edimburgo, el James Tait Black, declaró como ganador este año al verdaderamente huraño (lo que no le impidió aparacer en una entrevista grabada en el show de Oprah Winfrey) Cormac McCarthy y su nueva, y muy exitosa, novela The Road. Se impuso sobre nombres como el de Sarah Waters, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Alice Munro, James Lasdun y el debutante Ray Robinson. La noticia la dio The Guardian.

Dice la nota: "The American author Cormac McCarthy, long revered for the hardbitten poetry of his novels, has won the UK's oldest and most literary of book awards. The 74-year-old, was awarded the James Tait Black memorial prize, worth £10,000, for his bleak vision of a post-apocalyptic America, The Road. The book won a Pulitzer, the US's pre-eminent literary prizes, earlier this year, and is being widely noised as a strong Nobel contender. The novel describes the journey of a father and son who are heading south in a world where a disaster has occurred, reducing nature to a nuclear-grey winter and humans to savage, scavenging cannibals. While the landscape is scorched and some of the set-piece encounters almost Beckettian, the nightmare vision is leavened by McCarthy's austere language and his description of the powerful bond between the boy and his father."
